What does the warranty cover?
The Castrol® Engine Warranty program covers your engine from oil-related mechanical failure or abnormal wear:
- Once you start using GTX® or switch between GTX®, GTX® High Mileage, MAGNATEC® or EDGE®, this warranty commences after the first 8,000 kilometres driven since the date of warranty registration and lasts until the earlier of:
the end of ten years from the vehicle model year, and
the date on which the vehicle odometer reaches 250,000 kilometres.
- Once you start using MAGNATEC® or switch between MAGNATEC®, GTX® High Mileage®, EDGE, or GTX® Full Synthetic, this warranty commences after the first 8,000 kilometres driven since the date of warranty registration and lasts until the earlier of:
the end of twelve years from the first day the vehicle was put in service, and
the date on which the vehicle odometer reaches 500,000 kilometres.
- Once you start using EDGE® exclusively, this warranty commences after the first 8,000 kilometres driven since warranty registration and lasts until the earlier of:
the end of fifteen years from the first day the vehicle was put in service, and
the date on which the vehicle odometer reaches 1,000,000 kilometres.
Does my vehicle qualify?
Yes, if:
- You have maintained your vehicle in accordance with OEM’s recommendation for oil change service
- Your vehicle is not subject to any exclusion as set forth in the Warranty Details
- You own or lease a passenger car, van or light truck with a gross vehicle weight of 10,000 pounds (4,536 kilograms) or less
- Your vehicle has been driven less than 220,000 kilometres and the vehicle is 8 years old or less
- Your vehicle is NOT used for commercial, agricultural or farming purposes
What happens next?
Upon our receipt of your eligible Registration/Owner’s Statement, you are approved and your detailed Engine Warranty Terms & Conditions will be e-mailed to you.

How do I keep my warranty valid?*
- Have Castrol® motor oils professionally installed per the guidelines in your Warranty Certificate
- Maintain copies of your oil-change service receipts. Receipts must indicate the installer name, date of service, odometer reading, brand of Castrol® motor oil installed and price paid
